BEYOND BORDERS TELEVISION (BBTV)
is a South Asian entertainment production company based in Pakistan and
India that will eventually be linked via the Dubai Media City to
satellite broadcasting channels for South Asian audiences across the
world. BBTV is a public interest company that will create entertaining
television programs for South Asian audiences, including their diasporas
in Europe and North America.
Beyond Borders
is headed by award winning journalists/editors
Najam
Sethi
and Jugnu
Mohsin
who lead
outstanding and successful teams at
The Friday Times,
Good Times
and Daily Times.
Our aim is to produce highly entertaining, competitive and marketable
programs with a shift in the underlying content that is the need of the
present times and a major challenge in this venture. This can only be
achieved with a team of talented, creatively aware and open minded
people; writers, directors, actors, cinematographers and technical
experts who have the ability and the will to make alternative
programming a success and prove that there is a world waiting to be
discovered beyond the mindless debris that seems to hold sway.
The
BBTV Film Festival
is a show that will enable our team to introduce new talent to audiences
across the globe. It will provide an opportunity to discover and be
discovered. The show will create a platform where talented amateur
filmmakers will submit their entries on our website. Once the top films
are approved by a panel of critics, these entries will form part of a
television show in the leading channels in South Asia in which
filmmakers will compete with their contemporaries to win cash awards
through audience votes and recognition of their talents and abilities.
Applicants must submit a self-directed short
film, up to five minutes in length belonging to genres determined by
BBTV. At present we are accepting entries longer than 5 minutes if the
content is of great value and interest.
Genres include: Action &
Adventure, Anime & Animation, Art & Experimental, Children & Family,
Comedy, Documentary, Drama, Horror, Romance, Sci-Fi & Fantasy and
Thriller.
Film lovers from around
the world will be able to view your film, rate it and place comments on
our website.
On the basis of the popularity of the films
on our website, a BBTV panel of film critics will select 5 films for a
45 minutes film premiere episode every week on major television networks
in South Asia.
BBTV Film Festival panel discussion will
commence at the end of screenings and telephone lines and SMS voting
will open at the end of the show.
In all, 240 films compete
for Best Film of the Day Award,
48 films compete for the 3 Best Films
of the Season Awards
and finally, 12 films compete for the
Best Film of the Year Award.
